Thrifter and Drumbeat were only 5 and 2 years old when they both were orphans. Drumbeat was born mute as only sounds like clicks, drums and beeps are the only way he can communicate. while his older brother Thrifter was born like a normal bot. Drumbeat didn't have his optics open at that time since he was afraid to open them, his brother Thrifter (5 years old) beaten his little brother up to make him open his optics. Thrifter beaten and abuse Drumbeat (2 years old) so badly even around near his optics. Thrifter gave a powerful punch near Drumbeat's optics by the time Drumbeat opened them he saw his brother's servo coming right at him then when he felt the punch on his side then all of Drumbeat's optic functions malfunction and Drumbeat became blind with black blind optics.

Drumbeat ran away with a visor he made and now uses the visor as his seeing tool, but at times he is afraid to take off his visor or seeing anyone's servo approach Drumbeat's face. Thrifter on the other had roams free stealing things from other bots/cons until he finds someone to take care of him.
